Ethylene glycol tert-butyl ether mainly replaces 2-Butoxy ethanol. In contrast, it has the advantages of extremely low odor, low toxicity, low photochemical reactivity, mild skin irritation, good compatibility with water, and stable dispersion to latex coatings. It is compatible with most resins and organic solvents, and has good hydrophilicity. It can be widely used in coatings, inks, cleaning agents, fiber wetting agents, plasticizers, organic synthesis intermediates, paint strippers and many other fields. Its main uses are as follows:

3. Product Uses:

3.1 Water-based paint solvent

Mainly used as a solvent for water-based systems, latex water-dispersed coatings in the coating industry. Because the HLB value of ETB is close to 9.0, In the dispersion system it functions as dispersant, emulsifier, rheology agent, and co-solvent, and it has good performance on latex paint, colloidal dispersion paint and dissolved aqueous solution resin paint in water-based paints. , used in building interior and exterior wall coatings, automotive primers, colorful tinplate and other fields.

3.2 Paint solvent

3.2.1 As a dispersant. When producing extra-black amino paint and extra-black acrylic paint, it usually takes a lot of time to grind high-color carbon black to achieve a certain fineness, while using ETB-soaked high-pigment carbon black, the grinding time can be shortened by more than half, and the paint appearance after finishing is flatter and smoother.

3.2.2 As a leveling agent and defoaming agent, it can improve the drying speed, flatness, gloss and adhesion fastness of water-dispersed coatings. Due to its tert-butyl structure, it has high photochemical stability and safety, and can eliminate pinholes, small particles and air bubbles in the paint film. The water-dispersed coatings made of ETB have good storage stability, especially under low temperature conditions in winter.

3.2.3 Improve gloss. The application of ETB in amino paint and nitro paint can prevent the "orange peel" pattern, and the gloss of the paint film can be improved by 2%~6%.

3.3 Ink dispersant

The ink made with ETB as a solvent, or used as a diluting dispersant in printing ink, can greatly improve the rheology of the ink, and improve the quality, gloss and adhesion of high-speed printing.

3.4 Fiber Extractant

Alied-Signal Company of the United States extracted polyethylene fiber containing 76% mineral oil with ETB, and the mineral oil content in the fiber was reduced by 0.15% after extraction.

3.5 Titanium oxide phthalocyanine dye

Japanese company Canon added Ti(OBu)4 to the ETB solution of 1,3-diaminoisoindoline, and stirred at 130C for 3h to obtain 87% pure titanium oxide phthalocyanine dye. The crystalline titanium oxide phthalocyanine made of porous titanium oxide phthalocyanine and ETB can be used as a photographic photosensor, which has high sensitivity to long-wavelength light.

3.6 High-efficiency household cleaning agent

ADEKA used propylene oxide and ETB-containing KOH to react and obtained polyoxypropylene mono-tert-butyl ether, which is an ideal high-efficiency household cleaning agent.

3.7 Anti-corrosion hydrosol paint

Nippon Paint Company made a sprayable anti-corrosion hydrosol paint with dimethyl ether, acrylic resin, ETB, butanol, TiO2, cyclohexyl amine carbonate, defoamer.

3.8 Radio component carbon film resistor

The carbon film resistor using ETB as the resistance liquid has a smooth and flat surface, which can eliminate the bad phenomenon of pinholes and thick edges, and improve the performance of electrical components.

3.9 Fuel Additives

ETB can be used as a co-solvent and modifier for new boiler fuel, which not only improves combustion efficiency, but also reduces emissions. As a new energy source for boilers and large marine diesel engines, it has the advantages of rigid demand arising from environmental protection requirements and policy dividends.

4. Packaging and storage

Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The packaging is required to be sealed and not in contact with the air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids and alkalis, and should not be mixed. It should not be stored in large quantities or stored for a long time. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Prohibit the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. Storage areas should be equipped with emergency release equipment and suitable containment materials. Packed in iron drum, 180Kg/drum.
